My Story...

...starts in a loving, but flawed, family and community. No one I knew sought therapy or even talked about mental health in a positive light. But I always knew that I (and the people around me) deserved happiness, connection, and support to reach optimal potential.

I saw much strength and talent in my loved ones. But I also saw unhealthy attitudes that led to success in one area of life while failing in another. The people I loved had experienced - but also delivered - emotional pain. My life and environment was also affected.

I had to push beyond what I thought I knew, search for guidance in places I wasn't accustomed to, and look within to overcome my struggles and blind spots.

What I found was a more grounded sense of identity, confidence, and comfort I could carry with me in any surrounding. I hope I can to that for you too.

My Experience

I have been a practicing psychologist in Texas for over 10 years.

I received my doctorate in clinical psychology in 2010, with a focus on health psychology - working with people suffering from various health conditions. My real passion is reaching low-engagement populations, such as racial minorities and men. I have often worked in doctor’s offices, hospitals or community clinics that are likely to give access to such people.

My most recent work has focused on tailoring therapy to men, who often have a hard time talking about themselves or seeking any sort of help. And I heavily study common role expectations for men and women alike, particularly when they contribute to problems. I've spent my career adapting therapy to those who come from different backgrounds, and who may have never focused on their mental health before.

I learn where my clients are coming from before envisioning what positive change looks like for them. And I enjoy working within the context and culture they are coming from. My job is to help you make your life better, not to change who you are.
