My Story...
...starts in a loving, but flawed, family and community. No one I knew sought therapy or even talked about mental health in a positive light. But I always knew that I (and the people around me) deserved happiness, connection, and support to reach optimal potential.
I saw so much strength and talent in my loved ones. But I also saw unhealthy attitudes that led to success in one area of life while crumbling in another. The people I loved experienced - but also delivered - emotional pain. My life and environment was also affected.
I, myself, had to push beyond what I thought I knew, search for guidance that I was not accustomed to looking for, and sometimes had to look within, to overcome my own struggles and my blind spots.
What I found was an ability to find a more solid ground of identity, confidence, and comfort within my own surroundings. My hope is that I can to that for you too.
My Experience
I have been practicing as a licensed psychologist in Texas for over 10 years.
I received my doctorate in clinical psychology in 2010, with a focus on health psychology - meaning I often worked with people dealing with various health conditions.
My focus has been working with low-engagement populations. I have often worked in doctor’s offices, hospitals or community clinics that are more likely to serve such groups. My most recent work has focused on tailoring my services to men, who typically have a hard time talking about themselves or even seeking any sort of help. I have spent my career learning to adapt my approach to therapy to various groups of people, who come from different backgrounds, and who may have never spoken about mental health before.
I truly enjoy meeting my clients where they are at and working within the context and culture that they are coming from. My job is to enable you to make your life better, not to change who you are.
